JCO Donuts

Audience

J.CO website is the simplest compared to Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts. J.CO doesn’t have any online ordering that is available nor they have much information to educate consumers about their products. Therefore target audience may not be specific enough.

Purpose

It may be targeting investors more as their franchise page seems to have more information.

Accuracy

Accuracy is poor for the description on the site as the mixture of British english and American english doesn’t give a consistent look. Using “Flavor” on one description and “favourite” on another description of donut indicates lack of consistency on this. There is obvious grammatical mistakes on the descriptions and this may not look good as the website already contain very little information on products, therefore they should limit the amount of grammatical errors.

Credibility

It may be targeting investors more as their franchise page seems to have more information. They have JCO all rights reserved at the bottom of the page which gives audience the assurance it is a credible website

Design

Usability of the website is simple as it doesn’t have a lot of pages to explore. Information on the website is limited. Each description of the donuts is leaning towards creative descriptions. It appears to be fun but at times it just looks like bad english. Visually the site looks very plain, it could use more images and banners and visuals.

Loading speed

Loading speed seems to be decent between links.

Navigation

The navigation is very simple and doesn’t have much links to other pages. Basic ones such as about us, products and community.

Visual appeal

Simple website with interesting creative ideas to promote their products in a very unique way.

Layout

The donut menu has different donuts types on the right hand side that you can scroll up and down, when you select it, in the middle is the bigger picture of the item. However the scrolling of the donut menu seems to be annoying as it auto scroll itself when you have already moved it somewhere.

Readability

The text is simple to read for the website, however it looks too standard and that the fonts may not look like it ties well with the brand.

Use of colour

Usage of colours is standard as there are not many being used. Mostly brown but it matches the colour of the brand.

Ways to improve for all 3 websites

Perhaps for Krispy Kreme there is room for improvement for the website would be to have more viewing angles on each doughnut. Once you click on a specific doughnut , they could perhaps have a 3D view of it. Makes it more interactive. Having videos for the site will help make consumers stay and explore further. Krispy Kreme makes it hard to point out as the website has a good overall design.
For Dunkin Donuts, Ways to improve the site would be to use better quality promotional posters, they do appear fuzzy on the fonts especially on bigger screen. Visually it would be better to have more photos for the promo items instead of it being wordy. Can add interesting information on the website as well such as the ingredients that they use. It would be good if they can use all of the colours of the brand a lot more, the pink is not used much.
Lastly for JCO they need to really check the grammar and usage of language. The idea to be interesting is there but they just need to improve on this and give more purpose to the site and not just having a website just to show that they are around.
